The annual Alzheimer’s Walk, held in Pierce, King and Kitsap counties this month, raised more than $400,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association’s programs in the fight against dementia.
For the South Sound walk on Sept. 10, 120 teams and a combined 720 walkers took to the sidewalks near the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, raising $130,462 (at last report).
The Alzheimer’s Association also staged walks for the Kitsap Peninsula (288 participants, $36,000-plus) on Sept. 16 in downtown Bremerton and in Seattle on Sept. 24 (793 participants and $241,000-plus) at Seattle Center.
